We haven't heard about what happened at the Fandango in Spain yet.
The Fandango went very well Des, danced our socks off, got home mid day Saturday and we were out dancing Saturday night, and with a bit of luck again tomorrow. Weather was kind to us a pleasant 28C all week.

Probably seems quiet because somehow posts which are normally on the 'New Posts' 4/5 days without being responded to, got moved to Merchant Navy General Postings and not everyone checks on there, I know a couple of mine disappeared into the ether, but at least we are still afloat.

Question is anyone finding they site times out? I have had several posts when I go to post them I have been timed out and had to log back in again, bloody annoying as my post has vanished.
Someone posted yesterday , It is very quiet on here!!!!maybe they are expeirencing this problem.
Before I attempt to post this now I will copy it and if needs be Paste it when I log back on , that is if it has timed out again.
I did start a new thread about this but !!!
Perhaps if others are having to log back on again the interest may have gone concerning there particular post., just a thought.

I don't think there's any 'feuding' or dissension going on....well,not like there used to be,going back a few years!
Personally, and I'm not disparaging anyone in this reply, but I tend to not treat it like a 'blog, where anything and everything is discussed, and an opinion is solicited and expected, much perhaps as it used to be in the messroom,or at one's smokos.
No,There are other sites for that,FaceBook being a front contender!

I will usually respond to items of maritime interest, and I'm at my happiest helping out at research, ship details, events etc. With other non-maritime events I will only respond to outstanding worldwide events ,such as a cataclysmic global happening--or a change in British government!

I do miss all the old regulars.......

    Happy surfing,now mostly 'silver 'surfing!
And Safe Sailing,if you're still out there, even if it's in your dreams.

Talking of which, and occasionally when my brain cells are in flux,-clearing out the old ones as I call it, I had a recent well, more of a nightmare ,one in which a ship was crossing from my port to starboard on a steady bearing and not altering.I simultaneously ,to alert the crosser, pulled the whistle lever which came off in my hand ("Sh*t !" came to mind !,rang the telegraph which did not respond, engaged hand steering, and called the Old Man,only to hear his 'tiger' say "Captain no here!"
Suddenly the crossing culprit which looked like a typical Greek freighter speeded up ,crossed my bows and disappeared at a supersonic speed! On the stern I saw what looked like a couple of huge Chinese grinning heads laughing at me.Yes,I woke up in a sweat, thankful it was just a dream. Now,that reminded me on reflection that for my Orals nearly 50 years earlier I had been thoroughly grilled by the Examiner on my reactions to such a crossing scenario, albeit without the Chinese grinning heads...
I do think though that no matter how long we served at sea, such experiences ,real or dreamed are always with us.

A recurrent dream with me at one time years ago was on the bridge of a ship sailing down the high street of some mythical city and wondering how the hell I got there , was pleased to wake up, usually in a cold sweat., but just pleased to wake up.. Cheers JS.
