    Default Sliced bread

Anyone else noticed that the slices seem to be getting thicker?. I was making some sandwiches today and thought we had picked up a thick sliced loaf by mistake but according to the packet it was medium. Never seen thin sliced bread on the shelves for years, probably a ploy by the manufacturers to make you buy more as there will be fewer slices in the loaf.

I think you're right. It's the same with most products these days, bars get smaller, tubes get thinner, all designed so we get through them faster, and buy more, sooner.
Road repairs are the same. Councils hire in contractors to mend roads, but they mend them badly, thus repairing them again and again so much sooner.

Re. Bread here in WA Bakers shops supply a variety of types of loaf size. When sliced it is done on machine and have the choice of sandwich or toasting thickness. There are numerous types of different brown bread , and is one commodity that the buyer has a lot of choice. I do the shopping now and one is spoiled for choice. JS.

Nothing has ever tasted as good as when one came of 12/4 watch on a cold night. Slice a big thick piece of the loaf and put it under the griller to toast. Put lashings of butter on and reinsert it under the griller to melt that into the thick wad of toast. Then put more butter on. Sit down with a mug of tea and enjoy.
That's the way the mop flops.

My thanks to Brian for this site.
