The News
Even the most optimistic of people will be left in a depressed state after watching last night's TV news.
Every report featured dire warnings of the near future and failure of service's.
One man told of watching his mother die while waiting for an ambulance which took an hour to arrive after repeated 999 calls. Followed by the extreme heat conditions and loss of farmers crops leading to even higher prices in the shops, water shortage and drought. There has never been a better time to be a criminal because the majority of crimes are going unsolved by police. Then came the prediction that millions could freeze to death this winter because of the huge rises in gas and electricity bills. A doctor who was interviewed said the NHS could no longer give patients the treatment and care they needed due to severe shortage of staff in all departments.
The once GREAT Britain is collapsing around our ears.
Where is the government while all these emergencies are taking place? They are on holiday. Nothing can be done until September when the present PM is evicted and a new one installed.
An interesting footnote, MP's can claim all their energy costs, without limits, on expenses.

Re: The News
The NHS deals with over 1 million patients every 36 hours. In 2016/17, there were a total of 16.3 million hospital admissions, 28% more than a decade earlier, and 23.4 million attendances to A&E departments, 23.5% higher than 10 years previous. Read more about the NHS hospitals.
From NHS website.
Yes waiting times have increased.
From todays D.M. rather than recruit more nurses and \doctors, Health trusts would rather employ, Inclusion and Diversity offers at great salieries.
Of course Louis, its easy to put your left wing views on everything and spin the story to suit your views
The UK is not alone in suffering everything you posted the whole of Europe is suffering not just the UK as you imply.
Where is the opposition whilst all this is happening- oh, they are on holiday.

Re: The News
Why mention European countries we left that club did we not. Thankfully the UK did not become totally reliant on Gas supplies form Russia.
Concerning the increase in numbers at A&E in hospitals one very good reason for that is the waiting times to get a GP appointment. Have you tried to get an appointment with an NHS dentist?
There is another trian wreck heading down the tracks concerning the NHS that is a shortage of Consultants most will be retiring at the age of 55.
Senior doctors in the NHS are reducing their hours, turning down extra work and even retiring early to avoid being hit with huge tax bills on their pensions, a report reveals.
The findings have prompted concern that waits for treatment will grow longer, patients will receive inferior care and understaffing will worsen because hospitals have too few doctors available.
Nearly 20% of consultants have cut the number of hours they work and 42% have reduced the amount of extra shifts they do, faced with the threat of receiving bills that can top £50,000 in a year, according to the research commissioned by NHS Employers.
Denists have been asking for an updated contract since the last revision in 2006.
It appears the solution the government are going to adopt is employing more overseas workers to fill the vaccancies. I thought the PM had promised to have 30,000 new nurses in training ? was this linked to the £350 million a week for the NHS as advertised on the Brexit Bus.
There was an interview this week with a nurse who was recently recruited from Barbados. That lady will be in need of medical attention if she does not lose a lot of weight, no way would she have passed her ENG 1.

Poster was repeating last nights news stories concerning UK's many problems and failures.
As this other poster has made reference to Europe here are the facts.
UK highest electricity price of 23 European countries.
UK fourth highest price for gas.
Many European countries heavily reliant on Russian gas imports. Not so UK only 4% from Russia.
While many European countries have vast gas storage plants the UK storage gas plants were closed under the Tory government.

The Gas storage facility was closed by Centrica (British Gas) because the UK Government wouldn't invest any money in it.
Germany, Denmark, Belgium, Ireland, Spain and Italy all have higher energy costs in compared to the UK.
Only, Poland, Croatia, Bulgaria, Romania, Hungary, Latvia and Lithuania have cheaper gas cost in than the UK. Source natuaralworld.com
