Christmas Cards
As my circumstances have changed this year with me being on my own,(My wife in a Care home).I found it easy to buy the Christmas Cards but I found it difficult with the cost of sending the cards.
Therefore I will not be sending any cards this year.
However i would like to wish all of you on this Fabulous site "A very happy Christmas and a good New Year".
I know what you are saying "Mikes a bit early with the Christmas greetings".
The way I see it, its done.
Thankyou.

Mike,
I have done the same for many years, I make a charitable donation in lieu of cards. Many Christmas cards are non standard sizes and therefore attract a higher cost to post. Second class post is now quite expensive,

Like you Tony, the money saved on cards and postage I donate to the needy.
Been doing that for years now.

Re: Christmas Cards
I meet a group of my ex work mates every three months for a meal, and talk of old times, well we did until covid. The month of December we all have a xmas meal with our wives, and they all pass cards around to one another, i refuse to be drawn in to this, its pointless, i am there to wish them all a happy xmas !!!, one other member feels the same , so we do not partake. Having said that, i am well know to detest Xmas, the best day of Xmas is boxing day, because its a whole 364 days before the nonsense comes round again, kt

Re: Christmas Cards
Good idea Victoria , but still i think that the ECards of Today are very good, of course not like a Personal one that has been filled in by yourself and the Stamps put on but ??
I get 50 concession Stamps a Year , which does help during the period as i do write to Family etc, however if posting overseas then you cannot use them.
- Concession stamps can be used for domestic letter services only and such use is subject to the Australia Post Terms and Conditions.
- Concession stamps are not valid for parcels or international services.
- As concession stamps have no denomination, please use the following table for information on how the stamps should be used:
Cheers
Keep the good work going! LOL

Re: Christmas Cards
Hoping Scout post will return after the global health concerns:
For the past 35 years (except for 2020) Cardiff and Vale Scouts have been at the heart of a much-loved local tradition - Scout Post.
Scout Post has always been a vital part of our fundraising. Every year, we usually deliver around 500,000 Christmas cards in Cardiff and the Vale of Glamorgan, which helps us raise £150,000 to keep Scouts running locally.
We know not everyone sends Christmas cards these days, so if you can, please support us with a donation.
Scouts' Christmas Post 2020 · A decision has been taken that it would not be possible owing to present Covid-19 restrictions to run the Scouts' Christmas Post ...
The Scouts were well known for their Christmas post service.

Re: Christmas Cards
Vernon, when I have tp post the very odd one I use the concession stamps.
If to any form of public service, MP, council etc I send Reply Paid so they pay not me.
Cards, pull out the old ones, white out your name and use again.
But Mike I fully understand your circumstances, I will still be sending to some, no card back, no worries mate no one will be offended by that.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Christmas Cards
Since my wife died in 2019 I have abandoned cards completely. Further, for several years by arrangement with the family there have been no gifts in either direction. Each year a four figure donation goes to my local Intermediate School stipulated to be for four funds for underprivileged kids - school camp in Feb, school uniforms, lunches, sanitary products for older girls. In NZ the govt refunds the donor 33.333% of donations made to most registered NZ charities which I sometimes add to the school's fund the following year.
