Thanks for that Rodders.

But only last year a report from NZ said the main ice shelf there was wider, deeper and longer than ever recorded.
I often wonder just who is putting out all this info, so very often contradicting others, and why?

I do believe there is more of a political agenda here rather than actual fact.

Near the bottom of the article is an explanation as seen by the glaciologists that did the study:


"East Antarctica, the greater part of the continent, is the only region to have shown some growth. Much of this region essentially sits out of the ocean and collects its snows over time and is not subject to the same melting forces seen elsewhere. But the gains are likely quite small, running at about five billion tonnes per year.
And the Imbie team stresses that the growth cannot counterbalance what is happening in the West and on the Peninsula. Indeed, it is probable that an unusually big dump of snow in the East just before the last assessment in 2012 made Antarctica as a whole look less negative than the reality.:

Note the answer "Probable" which implies they don't know for sure, yet the facts remain that the Antarctic shelf is suffering ice-loss due to a change in the weather and subsequent warming and raising of the ocean". There words not mine, though I do accept the fact that we are undergoing climate change either by natural causes enhanced by man or as many scientists believe perpetrated by the actions of man since the time of the industrial revolution.

The rising sea levels are of interest.

We have one guy here who claims to be an expert on climate change who made one of the most stupid statements a couple of years ago and has gone quiet since.


'Climate change will see the seas around Oz rise by as much as two meters, far more than any other country will get.'


It was noted in the press the next day that water will find an equal level across all continents.
