Not the official one But ?
Well the time is fast approaching for our Aussie normal Long Weekend (one of a few LOL)
however as per usual everyone and their dog will be rushing to somewhere for the three day break. Mind you a lot just take the Friday off sick to make it four days!
So what is the long Weekend!?? Yes its the Queens Birthday again and as said in Title (Not the official one But ?)
Strange how this happened,i will have to look it up to find out why!
Not that am complaining as at least I get a few days with my lovely Wide at home,to which I do always look forward to ,besides this Holiday, each Friday is a good day for me knowing that we have a Weekend together!
Cheers
All those Aussies that are going away just Drive carefully and obey the Road Rules! Stay Safe.

Re: Not the official one But ?
Official celebrations to mark Sovereigns' birthday have often been held on a day other than the actual birthday, particularly when the actual birthday has not been in the summer. King Edward VII, for example, was born on 9 November, but his official birthday was marked throughout his reign in May or June when there was a greater likelihood of good weather for the Birthday Parade, also known as Trooping the Colour.

Re: Not the official one But ?
The tradition of Queens birthday here in Oz has nothing to do with the current sov.
It goes back to the early days of Queen Victoria who declared a day to celebrate her birthday across what was then the Empire.
Oz kept it as the day, but other now Commonwealth countries use it by an other name.
