Funny if it wasn't serious
Hi All.
I don't know if this comes under politics or not, but it certainly was a laugh.
The latest on the British Russian spy was on TV here last night ,and I was completely puzzled.
It showed two men all dressed up as if going to land on the moon and the reporter saying they were examining the place for poison virus and standing a few feet away were three coppers nodding away with no masks on, then another shot of two men in the same space gear and a few feet away were three firemen with no masks on. But the one i thought best was when they put a contaminated car on the back of an army truck put a lose cover over it, then a Girl soldier with No mask was directing it around the corner, where I suppose it drove through crowded streets with the cover flapping away. EEK!
Cheers Des

Re: Funny if it wasn't serious
Des mate, all I suspect part of a clever plot to confuse the Russians.
Why all the fuss over this is beyond me.
But the guy who was supposed to administer the poison had better find a safe haven somewhere because the KGB will not be happy with him.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Hi John.
I can see the fight between Teresa May and Putin, "He's yours." "No he's yours." "But he told us everything." "He told us everything as well." "Oh!bugger him we all know what he said anyway."

That would be the usual postures people would be asked to take by the media Des. Although those suits were probably capable of saving lives they were in that instant only to emphasise to the.public and giving the story a bit of oooommmphh. The reporters and camera men you can’t see are probably just dressed ordinary as well. Everything is for effect when you get to the media, they are the fantasy makers. I was very surprised about the post from a member about Trump being teetotal. Amid all the bad media press they direct at him that one bit of truthful information would have been more appreciated than all the garbage they print. Maybe they thought Trump May of benefitted by the news that he wasn’t going to do something whilst drunk at least. Cheers JWS.

Re: Funny if it wasn't serious
The guys in the space suits were firemen, the fire service would have been called after it was known to be nerve gas, and full protective plus ba sets are all is usually carried. The other guys in protective suits plus face masks were supposed to be from Porton Down, that baffled me a little, because the filtered face masks still allowed the breathing from atmosphere, so how that works I don't know.i feel for all the nurses, ambulance doctors etc, who will have handled the two persons before the cause was known. Who knows how they might be affected in later life, kt

Re: Funny if it wasn't serious
Thanks for that Keith, most of those in the emergency services do us proud. Most of us have run risks during our lives without even realising at the time and is only with advancement of the likes of advancement in medical science that has eased our troubles. When aids first arrived on the scene with all the panic merchants on about how it was passed on through infected needles, my immediate thoughts were about all the times we had to stand in line in 3rd world countries waiting to get a needle for protection against some local malady. And how the same needle was being used over and over again. My mind was cleared on passing the aids test for entry into Australia. Just another no no to illegal immigration. Deep sea diving was another one all those divers I knew in the late 70s and early 80s I wonder how their health is today. Saturation diving was in its infancy then and if the truth was known they were guinea pigs to a certain extent. Cheers JWS.

When I did my Ship Captain Medical course it was in Plymouth at a diving school. The theory days were done together and then the divers and boat guys separated for the practical [scenarios].
Now I'm know for my liking of rum but these divers could drink me under the table. Out until 3 or 4 am and still in class the next day at 8! They were earning £ us boa ties could only dream of but most would finish theiir career in their 40/50 due to health issues.

Re: Funny if it wasn't serious
The guys digging tunnels have the same problem, when they are working in pressurised atmospheres, they earn massive wages, but by the time they are 50 they are in a bad way. Usually effecting their bones. We are all more aware today as to what working environments can damage us, Asbestos being a prime example. And of course in days gone by our drinking habits!!!!, kt
