Cabs will be hybrid and electric, Sadiq Khan (Mayor) said there will be a scrappage compensation scheme as now being practised by some car manufacturers, up to £6000 for diesel cars built prior 2006, and Khan is seeking additional compensation from Govt coffers for Black Cab owners. I would have thought it would not beyond the wit of some entrepaneur to set up a re-engining facility for Black Cabs as new ones are currently running at £50,000.

Plenty of recharging points in London and no doubt there would be more installed on all taxi rank vicinities at all major rail stations

surly disposal of the batteries are more of a problem are they still acid powered {I don't know} but why not start the fracking and cars could run on gas from our country running our cars no pollution coming out no won't work the tree huggers society would be up in arms?jp

Apparently as things stand the batteries have a mileage capacity for cars of about 150 miles, some quotes for replacement batteries are at about£800, so this is not going to be a cheap method of transport i think. Although the development of batteries is improving, they are always going to be expensive, another idea is to have solar panels on the roof of the cars. At the moment it seems a hybrid is the only real choice, but battery replacement is still expensive, kt

Unfortunately common sense does not suit the Green Party or their dogma, nor does it suit the politicians as they would have to try and justify another tax source and those who object to fracking want us to be totally reliant upon foreign sources for everything

Well as methane is being produced at an alarming rate according to some, Attachment 24409we could always go back to this idea lol.

ivan what would this country have done if the green party had their say at the turn of the last century no mines no gas but a small hole in the ground pumping the gas out making hundreds of thousands of jobs and yet people listen to them? no logic at all is there. they want to save the planet yet just talking for the sake of making a noise me thinks? jp

Hi Keith, you selling the batteries of cheap?
The new Renault electric car is approx £14k to purchase, if you don't want to rent the batteries, car costs £19k.
The range of this car is 120 miles in winter and 184 in summer, requires 7 hours to charge the batteries.
