Service

When coming to the throne HM said she would give her service to the people for as long as she lived.
Service comes in many forms and not always as obvious as we may imagine.
She has served the people of UK and commonwealth in an excellent manner without any fuss.

The Crown is what makes Britain what it is. It is continuity which those who only have a political dictator will never have. Having a leader for 3 4 or 5 years is nothing. Countries like Denmark, Norway, Japan., Sweden, will always have what others don't. A proper and continuing thread to the past and to the future, those who object to a dollar a year as an excuse for getting rid of, please apply to more affluent people who may have a whip round and pay the dollar for you, doubt if they would volunteer to pay your TV licence though. We all have the right to question why institutions exist and the roles they perform , are they value for money in these days of austerity ?

So back to my original question , what is service ? We have pooled our collective brains yet still failed to find the answer.

the Civil List is a portion of the income from Crown Estates , she actually costs very little , as Estate Income far exceeds the list .

pockets but to pay wages and running cost of all the property
that is owned by the people.The royal family cannot sell this
property.

Looking around the world no country has the perfect system. In the States you need to be a multi millionaire to run for President or have the backing of the wealthy corporations and be forever in their debt. I have no doubt the monarchy will continue for as long as a majority of people wish it to do so. It would be far better though to have a monarchy willing to change as the country and the world changes. To have a slimmed down version as the Dane's and Dutch , not have family members and hangers on living their luxurious lifestyles at the expense of the public , as Cappy and Kong are fond of calling them , bums and stiffs the great unwashed.
Public opinion may change when Charles and Camilla are crowned King and Queen we can only wait and see.
