AArgh Jim lad, you've done nothing but rail (or is it rale) against bankers, suits, financial advisors etc since the post started, so I had assumed, it appears incorrectly, you were a blue collar, even though you now tell us you were white collar, it would appear that you are at heart a blue collar., and that's you're perogative. On the bile aspect perhaps you should re read your posts.
I await a suit (pardon the pun)able reply when you've had your kip, but keep it fairly kind, as I'm getting very sensative in my old age, and Wendy is getting fed up coaxing me out of the fetal position

Ivan you surprise me,after your time as mate and superintendant you broke one of the top 10 commandments in management.!!! That is never assume anything always get the facts first,you see you should've asked me what I worked at before you assumed that I was a "blue" collar worker,that way you don't get egg on your face.You have all seen these managers who attack somebody when they walk in late,always ask why the person is late first there could be a very valid reason his house could've burned down last night.I'm not at heart a "blue" collar or a "white" collar for that matter I believe in fairness for all,it seems that because I passed some comments regarding the tube drivers I was out of order as I was the only one on here who had anything good to say for them.Yes I was office manager for 40 years in the finance game and talking of unions from time to time USDAW would arrive outside my office and canvass my agents (40) to join that union to a woman it was NO we don't need a union they knew they got a fair deal with me.So Ivan the moral of the story is never assume anything.

When I studied on a management course the object of the course as well as being a good manger was see both sides of the coin.
Part of the course was to learn about the Unions and there views.
In the Diploma year we studied at Coventry Technical College, one of the Lecturers was a Union delegate. His first words to about ten of us was you are the potential enemy, I don't see why I should teach you.
Sometimes he would give us homework, his marks to all of us was poor (homework marks counted at the end of the year towards your pass).
Some nights we just sat there, as the course was nearing its conclusion and the exams were just over the horizon, we all felt that we couldn't sit the exams and pass.
One night we confronted him and demanded that he give us the areas / subjects that we could expect questions.
At first he was reluctant, we persisted and he eventually gave us the areas that we could expect questions.
We all passed no thanks to him. Sadly that was the Union attitude in the seventies and know doubt it still exists today.

eeh! Jim lad, just goes to show that one is never too old to learn and am now suitably chastened, mind you I don't envy you, it must be such a burden being infallible. My turn to have a kip, perhaps when I wake up I'll have another omlette!

John agree with all you say and have nothing to add !I am as puzzled as you as to how and what is going on and unfortunately it seems there is nothing to stop them.

Well said Ivan lets call it a draw on who has the last word.I'm just on my way to Southport not for a day out like most people go there for but to have my cataracts done I must be first on I have to be there for 8-45.I hope I can see the keyboard when I come back.

I have been told I have to have it done as I have cataracts. I would rather lose my legs than my sight.
