Mad as
Those of you with an artistic bent will know well the story of Carmen, the Bitzet opera.
The opera was scheduled to be put on here in Oz for a limited season. cluding the well known aria 'Toreado' Whcih includes the lines, 'Toreado don't cockle on the floor, use the spitoon what do you think it's for'?
In the opera there are occasions where the personalities smoke, though now due to health and safety the do not actualy light them up on stage just have them in their hands.
The season will now not go ahead. The campaign for the abolishion of smoking got on to the producers and said such an opera would encourage young patrons to take up smoking!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
We have a company here in Oz that produces cat food, the company name is Whiskas.
For many years now they have produced single serve sachets of beef in gravy with a weight of 100 grams.
Due to consumer demands the weight has now been reduced to 85 grams and the amount of beef reduced and gravy increased.
I have consulted with my three cats, who have also consulted with their friends, and I am assured that,
though they are the consumers, they have at no time been consulted by the cat food manufacturer as to the size and content of the sachets.
Now Nestles who manufacture confectionary have reduced the size of one product. Known as the 'Python' of a lenght of one foot, has been reduced in size to 10 inches. The reason, thye are concerned with the amount of sugar children consume!!!!!

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: Mad as
I thought Carmen Jones was a good adaptation, but the one in my CD collection is of the original. It's sandwiched between ELO's 'A New World Record' and Queen's 'A Day at the Races', followed by Rachmaninov's Third - culture stew!
