    Default We are all doomed

According to Astronomers the earth will cease to exist in 2888. A giant asteroid / comet is on a collision course with the earth and there is nothing that we can do about it.
The comet is of such a construction and rotational axis that if we destroy it will still damage the planet.
When it collides all life as we know it will cease to exist.

Good job i'll be pushing up the daisies.

When it does not occur in 2888, all will say: same time next year ?

If you're reading this story, it means the world didn't end on Dec. 21, 2012. Despite reports of an ancient Maya prophecy, a mysterious planet on a collision course with Earth, or a reverse in Earth's rotation, we're still here.

The Mayan connection "was a misconception from the very beginning," says Dr. John Carlson, director of the Center for Archaeoastronomy. "The Maya calendar did not end on Dec. 21, 2012, and there were no Maya prophecies foretelling the end of the world on that date."

I have a theory that the world will end in 5105, and we've been reading the Mayan calendar upside down.

The ancient Mayans predicted that the world will end in 2012.

Didn't see the Spanish coming though.

Bad news indeed, this could have serious consequences for the sale of long lasting Evo-Stick

2888 what a prospect , wonder if there will be peace in Gaza , afghanistan and Iraq by then ? Maybe the Eastern Europeans will conquer the radicals in Bolton by then . Cappy might have confessed to how much commision he got off of Mary too , and Alec Salmons Descendant King Alec the 26th of Scotland might have realised Scotland is not getting Stirling as a currency .

    John Sutton:

    John,

If you want to stretch life out for a couple of more centuries, try either of James Joyce's 'Ulysses' or 'Finnegan's Wake', and if you really want to go on for ever, read (or try to read) both of them.

    Cheers, Rodney

Surely if we are all doomed the military might as well attempt to destroy it even if it does damage the planet because it will not make an iota of difference if we are going to die anyway ?

    Hmmmmm
By that time Earth as we know it will most likely have ceased to exist having being overrun by you know who's, whilst the rest of us have found a green and pleasant world in a galaxy far, far, far away where the Star Wars theme plays constantly, beer is free and women never grow old.
