    Default Season change

There has been much talk over the years about climate and season change, last Wednesday January 29th I saw something which shows that season change is now very real.

In my local Safeways supermarket in the bakery section, a large table full of goods and in front a sign one meter by two meters with the words, HAPPY EASTER.

It became very obvious to me that the printers had made a big mistake this year as the calendar shows Easter as late April, obviously the supermarkets know something they do not.

As a result I am now making substantail changes to my arrangements for the year, as I now believe Christmas will be at the end of September.

Seems that Victoria is lagging behind NSW as Easter crap has been out here for weeks in fact the first week of Jan. Same as the powers to be on consumerism have been trying for years now to get us used to the idea of Christmas in July but think for once the population is not going along with it. Easter or Xmas we give the kids a bit of money to spend as they like. Makes life easier for us and the kids can choose what the feck they want with it. Long gone are the days of frantic searching for the right clothes for each kid which is what we used to give. No we are not affected one bit with those anus wipes that keep pushing crap.

The self serving mongrels have stuffed up all the special event days and added some to boot. We too have had the hot cross buns - plain, with fruit, and chocolate chip - and mince pies on sale since just after New Year. They are so chock full of chemicals that you could leave them on the shelf until Christmas and they'd look the same. Taste the same too - revolting.

Coles supermarkets was recently sprung for selling 'baked today bread' that was in fact prepared to its last stage in Ireland and shipped half way around the world to go in the oven here. Supermarkets (and we have two main players - Coles and Woolworths - with 80% of Australia's grocery business plus control over petrol and poker machines) are responsible for the consumption of chemically preserved food to the point where dead bodies decompose at much lower rate. So it's not only the rum, gin and whisky that does the pickling! If I see a coffin flying over I'll no that the local crematorium has exploded.

Hi Richard you have a fantastic surname for a seaman. Quartermaine must date back to the early days of sail. Have you ever traced your family history ?

The other big con they do Richard is now that they have pumped most of the population with additives they now make a fortune selling slimming crap by making out that we are an obese nation. Have to agree that they have killed of the seasonal feelings of years ago with all this consumerism. Recall years ago where upo entering a shop the customer was held with esteem and fawned over with personal service. Today most have to pay just to park then do their own shopping then to add insult have to line up and do the check out on their own. How long before they have us stocking the shelves as we shop LOL. On top of all this they show that they do not trust us with all the camera's and security around not to mention issuing out reward cards so that they can monitor what you will buy so as to cut down on choice next time you shop. When did we become so robotic to the point of loosing one's identity. This from a dedicated person who still uses cash so have to line up in the only check out that they reluctantly man while all the robots do their thing in the self serve check out.

Here in Melbourne Safeways, now known as Woolworths, had mince pies all year around and Hot Cross buns from NY day. The mince pies will keep for ever but the annoying point is they all come in Christmas wrapping all year. Since the shopper dockets have been kept to 4cents only there has been a definite change in shelf prices, upwards and onwards I think is the term they use.
