Fancy a Cup of Coffee?
Animal campaigners have successfully petitioned Selfridges to ban the sale of the Luxury Coffee Kopi Luwak.
The coffee is harvested from the beans of excretion from Civet Cats who live in the rain forests in Indonesia.
Apparently the cats eat the coffee beans, but cannot fully digest them, and they pass through the cats.
The excretion is collected and the partly digested beans removed.
Apparently the coffee harvested in this way has a unique flavour (no puns please, trying to be serious).
Suppose it brings whole new meaning to this coffee tastes crap.
Coffee harvested in this way costs between £180 to £300 per kilo.

Re: Fancy a Cup of Coffee?
So thanks to the animal rights do gooders how many civet cats are now out of a job.
It was probably a great job as well. All they had to do was eat beans and take a dump.
Now they are on the dole.

Re: Fancy a Cup of Coffee?
the only reason they were offended and got it withdrawn is because they cannot afford to buy it at that price.

Re: Fancy a Cup of Coffee?
The priciest part of your average takeaway coffee? It's the cup, not the beans:
It is bad news for anyone who thinks the high price they pay for a cup of takeaway coffee reflects the quality of the beans.
The most expensive ingredient in the drink is in fact the paper cup it is served in, researchers say.
High street coffee shop chains spend twice as much on packaging as they do on the beans they use, analysis found.
While the cost of the coffee served in a medium-sized £2.20 cappuccino is just 8p, the total cost of the cup, lid, stirrer, napkin and sugar amounts to 16p.
The biggest cost covered in the price of the drink, however, is the wages paid to staff, which make up nearly a quarter of the price.
Some 37p from each drink goes on VAT, meanwhile.
Compare the price of coffee to the even high price of a pint of beer, you would settle for the pub, but not for coffee ?

Another example of how the world is now cutting jobs where ever it can. No doubt the FAT CATS will not be effected.

Interesting fact that the global price of coffee has dropped by over 40% in the last year. So maybe there is ' A Lot Of Coffee In Brazil' after all.
