Anchorage.
Why is it that many members dont declare where they have dropped anchor??I wonder how many are like me and after reading a post you think "I wonder where that guy lives" I'm sure it would give us a better insight to the post.I look at post's and see the ships the guy has sailed on and it gives me an idea if he sailed out of Liverpool for argument sake.
Regards.

Well Jim as you see from my heading I dropped anchor in Torquay, but have never sailed out of here. I spent four years sailing out of Liverpool (PSNC) but lived in Hull, the rest of my time was signing on/off in numerous ports in UK and Continent. Also one of our shipmates ,Robin I think, dropped anchor in the Andes but I bet he never sailed out of there !, so where you dropped anchor may be misleading as to your most frequent port, perhaps unless you live in Dover and worked on the cross Channel ferries.
Sure there will be some interesting responses

I was dropped in Bolton, [on me `ead I think, ] but always sailed from and stayed in Liverpool, on the Pool, then I joined Esso, stayed and just flew around the planet to join ships and pay off. Then I went to Singapore to sail out of and stayed there a bit before going back to Boltonistan as it had become. Just like being back out east without the bronzy.
Cheers
Brian.

mY bIT!! lol!
Well as for me Jim
As most know,i was Born and raised in South Africa, Born Roodepoort Transvaal) but raised from age 4 in Cape Town so thats my Home!
Went Deep Sea from Cape Town ,and of course sailed into KG5 Tilbury on my first trip!
Then on to Southampton later for a spell on the Mail Run with UCL!
Actually dropped Anchor in Southampton, then joined the RAF!
Finally after the RAF,weny back to Cape Town to do various other things, before getting Re-Married,lived in Durban and then finally came to Australia, where i really dropped the Anchor good and proper!
Been here now 33 Years, and although i still love and miss my Home place of Cape Town,i too think that i definately made the correct decision to come here!
I live quite well (certainly not a Millionaire haha!
) but have most of what i need in this short life!
Australia has really been good to me and the Family!
Cheers
Now in Blackheath NSW!

Yes i agree with what Jim as propose it would be nice to know where some of our members live now .
If i had this information a few years ago (also the Laptop )i would have been able to get in contact with one of my best shipmates ever Johnny MacNab.
Also if i had not said where i dropped the anchor my good friend Capt Kong would possibly not have met me
So i am all in favour for it

Where you live
Most of us are the closest you will ever get to being citizens of the world. However I thought everyone had in the top right corner of the posts their location. Maybe my powers of observation are really going astray. Some of us made choices to leave our place of birth many years ago and like Doc Vernon I find Australia the nearest to the land of milk and honey that i was able to find and have no regrets on my choice.
