Moore-McCormack, commonly referred to as Mor-Mac, were primarily interested in South American passenger & freight services.
For the freighters, the firm offered two sailings per week.
The mainline service sailed to Rio de Janeiro, Santos, Montevideo and Buenos Aires; the secondary run was to Belem, Fortaleza, Recife, Bahia and Rio de Janeiro.
Here the Victory Class Mormacfir is being docked at Pier 32 at the foot of Canal Street in Lower Manhattan.
Ward Line's Oriente is just behind, docked at Pier 34.
This view dates from 1955.
