A very long shot

A very long shot here but if you don't ask you don't get. Last week I had to sadly have our 18 year old dog put to sleep. My wife, who many of you know is very ill, and my 9 year old daughter are somewhat heartbroken to say the least. Does anyone, who lives within say 100miles of Bristol, know of a small dog that needs re-homing. Must be small, 2~ 4 years old and get on with cats! Can't be doing with going through the puppy stage again but we have a home ready to provide some little dog with a very loving future. If anyone does come across one please send me a private message or email.

Just this side of heaven is a place called Rainbow Bridge.

When an animal dies that has been especially close to someone here, that pet goes to Rainbow Bridge.

There are meadows and hills for all of our special friends so they can run and play together. There is plenty of food, water and sunshine, and our friends are warm and comfortable.

Far removed but similar to our own Fiddlers Green.

All the animals who had been ill and old are restored to health and vigor. Those who were hurt or maimed are made whole and strong again, just as we remember them in our dreams of days and times gone by. The animals are happy and content, except for one small thing; they each miss someone very special to them, who had to be left behind.

They all run and play together, but the day comes when one suddenly stops and looks into the distance. His bright eyes are intent. His eager body quivers. Suddenly he begins to run from the group, flying over the green grass, his legs carrying him faster and faster.

You have been spotted, and when you and your special friend finally meet, you cling together in joyous reunion, never to be parted again. The happy kisses rain upon your face; your hands again caress the beloved head, and you look once more into the trusting eyes of your pet, so long gone from your life but never absent from your heart.

Then you cross Rainbow Bridge together....

Tony, unfortunately, I'm too far away and cannot assist in finding another furry friend for your family, but may I express my sympathy. It is a very hard thing to lose a pet and I'm very sorry for your loss.

And Keith, what beautiful words you have shared. I have had to put down my two old cats in the last five years and even now I find this sentiment to bring some comfort.

Good luck in your search, Tony. I would think there are enough unwanted animals in the world that you shouldn't have much of a problem finding a needy canine to share your home.

Hello Tony,firstly,I am truly sorry to hear that your wife is not well.I sincerely hope
that it won't be long before she is well again.It's a horrible thing to see one of your loved one
sick.
I'm sure that if you went to a Lost Dogs Home,you would find a suitable doggy there.
I'm hoping to travel to Europe next year and would very much like to catch up with you if at all possible.

Tony, it would appear that at the moment you just cannot take a trck. Know how you may be feeling about the dog, lost three cats in the last 18 years so i know the feeling. Hang in there mate, some thing good will come your way, for you and all the family.

Thanks guys. Only animal lovers can truly appreciate the pain of losing one. Its like losing one's child at the time especially when you have to actually take that final action and put them out of their misery. However I really wasn't looking for sympathy, merely using this network in the possibility someone may know of a pet needing a new home.

tony i can see you are an animal lover it is heartbreaking that your best mate has gone but go to your local rescue centre and find a new one there is plenty that need good homes and i am sure you could give that to a dog i still have the ashes of my last dog in a casket and he will go in with me when barb has me put to sleep but get another they are the best mates you could ever have.jp

my wife has just come in from walking our dog.she supports the dogs trust and she tells me that google will give the address of a local branch.they are desparate for people like you

Thanks John S. The challenge is at the moment most of their dogs are 8 ~ 12 years old already and we really want something a little younger. However its early days yet and we are scouring the web. There are also lots of private animals available but most people are just trying to make money from them, and that's one commodity we don't have an abundance of at this time. Please thank your wife for her interest.
