John Dumbell
Hello my dad John Dumbell is 76 years young. He lived in Liverpool and I know he sailed on The Reina Del Mar in the 50's early 60's. He was an apprentice engineer and became chief engineer. He doesn't know I have joined this site and it would be lovely to surprise him with a message from any old friends. I will ask him what other ships he sailed on. Have a great day every one
Cheers Jane

Re: John Dumbell
Hello Jane
Welcome to the site and it would be so nice to have some that knew him to tell you so that you could relay those messages!
Many Years have passed and it is hard to expect much, but with all these Lads and quite a few from Liverpool you may just strike luck!
Hope you do!
It may take a wee while for all to see this post!
Thanks too for joining!
Cheers
Would this be him at all?
If yes it seems that he may have given the wrong Year of Birth when joining the Merchant Navy, but those Years so many of us did that! This would make him 78 not 76.
Cheers

Re: John Dumbell
Jane
There was an engineering superintendent in Canadian Pacific in the 70's called Dumbell, pretty sure he was from Liverpool. It wouldn't be your father by any chance would it?

Re: John Dumbell
Jane,
I'm sure youve seen her before but here is a photograph of the Reina Del Mar on her maiden voyage leaving Livrpool on 3rd May 1956 bound for the West Coast of South America...............Reina Del Mar.jpg
The Chief Engineer was a Mr. Alexander Currie, perhaps your dad remembers him, he is the one on the right the other is the Master, Captain G.H. Rice....Ac.jpg.
She was known as the Cury and Rice Boat
