    Hi Alf,
Are you talking about the old liner SAMARIA built 1920 ? With her sister ship Scythia she used to run into KGV London up to about 1958 I think. I remember being alloted to the catering shore gang on the latter ship when I joined Cunard in 1957. Later on the new cargo liner SAMARIA I brought her out of the shipyard and stayed with her a couple of years or more starting 1965. I was Purser/Chf Stwd by that time.

Welcome Michelle to the greatest site on the net. I am sure if you give it time one of the lads will be able to give you some advise as you know there is always someone who will tell you where to go. While you wait just grab a cold one, sit back and enjoy the voyage.
    Happy daze John in Oz.

hi george. yes i was reffering to the old samaria. i was on her july-august 1950. what a rust bucket. i was in the platehouse and you loaded a big round wire basket with plates , connected by a chain runnig through a pulley fixed to the deckhead,, lowered it into a boiler with a spinning propeller in the bottom bounced it up and dpwn a few times then swung it over to another boiler to rinse.cheers. alf
