Cruise Ship Azores.
The Azores docked in Liverpool today would you believe that this is the same ship when named Stockholm that rammed and sank the Andrea Doria in 1956 with the loss of 52 lives.

Re: Cruise Ship Azores.
That ship got me the sack from Cunard.
.
We followed the Stockholm out of New York in misty weather but by the time we got off Nantucket Shoals it was the thickest fog I have ever seen. I was in the Crows nest on look out , couldn't see a thing, I couldn't even see my own ship the old FRANCONIA, I thought this is a waste of time being up here so I shot down the mast to have a quick pint in the Pig , meanwhile the collision occurs up ahead and the Captain, Donald Murdo McLean called the Nest on the phone to tell me to keep a good look out and no answer.
A few minutes later I was dragged up on the bridge between two rather large Master at Arms. I was logged and sacked on arrival in Liverpool.
The `Ille de France `got there first and did the rescue.
So I lost one of the best jobs I had at sea.
My own fault so do not shout at me please. I was a reformed character after that.
Confession is good for the soul, they say.
Brian.
