Joining BP Shipping Section
Hi All,
A newbie to this present site tho I was in it quite a few years ago
I recognise quite a few old names in the previous threads/ postings here and I guess a few will know me
Where have you been john Bramwell?
I was a 1955 BP Marine Engineering Apprentice and started up a website with the same title about 10 years ago originally looking for ex E/A's and E/C's and been very successful, located over 400 with names and info on a further 2400 ( www.bpapprentices.com). About 5 years ago I expanded the website to cover all ex BP seagoing personnel and to date have a database of around 700 ( all ranks and ratings) on 340 different BP tankers. Ex Apprentices/ Cadets, Engineers, Navigating Apprentices, Deck Officers, Radio Officers, Catering staff, Engineroom and Deck personnel
If you are interested you can contact me direct at wallaceg@bpapprentices.com, but dig out your Discharge Book sailing details.
I have been collecting old BP papers for years and have quite a collection of Apprentices newsletters, Fleet News, Drydock lists 1960/65 and Ships Movements 1969/85 and a few more up to 2000. I'm always on the lookout for more and if you have some you would like to donate ( originals or copies ) I will take great care of them.
I have noticed a few previous threads asking about personnel on various BP ships and I do have copies relevant to those days so drop me a line.
I did not intend to collect Ships photos but actually now have quite an extensive collection.
I am also interested in the British Crown disaster August 1966, I knew her 2/E in 1961. I have many photos and info about her and her personnel but am always looking for more.

Yes your memory is good Graham,my late Brother was on the British Aviater and i think was 2nd Engineer then! I see a listing for the same name on your site Number 151 I G Mac Donald 1960 that must have been him?? I dont see him listed on the Other page that has Crew out of Dry Dock though??
The Pic you have of your COC (Second Eng) is the same as the one i remember him having so long ago!

Castleman
The I ( Ian)G McDonald ( #151 in my website) was a 1960 BP Engineering Apprentice ( therefore born 1944) ,he was an E/App on Aviator in 1964 and 2/E on Victory in 1970 I did not follow his seagoing career after 1970
This IG Mcdonald did not start off in Union Castle
As far as I know he was later a BP Engineering Supt and to best of my knowledge died of burns in Singapore around 2000
Are we talking of the same person?
You can email me direct if you wish
