It would appear that the DeckBoys of 1964/65 Training School are a dying breed and are harder and harder to find. Where have they all gone?

when i find my old discharge book i can compare .i sailed on many of the ships you had listed

before i lost my pc i found a site that had all the ships i had sailed on and lots more .If my failing memory still works i am sure it was in the blue funne#s own web page Wil have tlo start again it brought back so many memories.And yet hardly anyone on here who i sailed with has passed my wa,y apart from Biffo whos daughter got intouch with me here in Australia

I was the Junior Lecky on the Memnon 13/1/66 to 24/10/66/
One trip Coasting followed by two trips Deep Sea.
Captain CHJ Hill Coasting
Two Deep Sea Captain K Johnson[ I think he was Pinky Johnson due to his aversion to Pink Gins in Great Quantity]

I left to join the Melampus on it's ill fated last voyage 1967 [ I was due to be best man at my mates wedding which I missed ] and was stranded in the Bitterlakes during the Egypt Israel conflict.

I have a number of photo's of the some of the crew on 35mm and have transposed them to .jpg.

My short time with Blue Flue was the most memorable working experience of my life and will never forget the British Merchant Navy and I am proud to this day for the experience. Sadly had the war not happened in 1967 I may have lasted longer.

Hi frankie, i sailed with you round the land on two or three ocasions with dave griffiths[biffo] we used to have a bevie in the pier and im not sure if this was your local the rose & crown in wallasey. That was back in 1964/5. Although i came from over the river i spent most of my leave staying in new brighton with another good shipmate jimmy howarth. Great memories of great days.all the very best frank peter. Ps where are you living in oz.

Hi Peter. A long time since we signed off the Agapenor. I went on the pool as I wanted to see more of the world than just the far east. I guess you stayed with Blue Funnel for a while longer. Still got some pictures somewhere of you and I. Seem to remember you lived in Fazakerly at the time.

I shipped out for another 3 years then swallowed the anchor when I got married. Spent the next 34 years in the oil industry. Still working part time as a consultant, still travelling around the world. Not as much fun these days. As you say great times. Drop me a line and we can catch up on old times.

Hi jim, great to hear from you after all these years. Are you still living on merseyside if so i hope we can meet up and swing the lamp, if thats not possible at least we can communicate through the forum.well jim briefly after the agapenor i done a couple of trips back down to oz on the ixion great job bosun (joe kavanagh) and the crowd were sound as a pound, my last trip with bluies was the perseus got home half way through the 66 strike. Went on the pool after the strike, c.p.r. Blue star, p.s.n.c. Ellermans, couple of iron orr boats trinculo, monksgarth. Finished up in the cunard. Sylvania,carinthia,samaria,parthia,scythia and finaly paid of the franconia in new york. Came ashore working in the shore gangs and ended up in the dock board.
