That is one regret in my life that i didnt give Blue Funnel a try, I wa always intrigued b the Far East, ad yet I didnt sail with them. You blokes that did would have visited many wonderful Ports on those Blue Funnel Ships. was lucky I spent nearly Two years on the Japan New Zealand run, and did a few trampers, but Blue Funnel escaped me with rgret . ll the Best Red Lead from Glenn

Was this a FGN trip Far East and Back ? i sailed as a JOS do you have any Photos of the trip ? I have lost any that were taken, I left the sea 3rd june 1970 and became a marine police officer just about to retire, could not get water from under me.

Yes that was the trip I am getting old now and my memory is not as good now.
Most of my time with the China trips I visited that many ports all photos I have given away.

The John Rimmer mentioned is my middle son and your right he did work as a dock policeman but has just retired.
He and his family are now on a trip to Malaya.

We did live in chatham close which is off latham ave.
When john first told me he wanted to go to sea ,I told him to go across to the China office and go thro the system as i knew they were agood company.
John now lives in Bath cottage facing the Marine pub bottom of South Road.

You must remember the lomax. and brady family, i attended a reunion with paul brady a few years ago he is in bristol now. I walked into a bar in belize while anchored off discharching onto barges .harrison boat walked right into ged lomax , he was in the army at the time small world mate. we all grew up together along with ian walker.who was a good football friend of mine and my brothers. we lived on rawson road. before they split seaforth in half with that bloody dual carriage way.Regards all terry, oh johns made a good job on that cottage, my lad done most of the work lmao you can tell him that.at the time he was courting his daughter terry.;)Quote:
