Hello Quiteman you must have been with Blue Flue nigh on at the end of their time , i was with them on and off throughout the 60,s great company as far as i was concerned all the best .
Yes they had started to swap ships names and funnels and some lads turned up expecting to go to the far east and ended up on the west coast of africa. Such a shame that a company which was bigger than Maersk could go out o busness so quickly.
Regards Derrick:eek:
I left 1969/70 to join Texaco. I had a Second Class Motor and there was no promotion. When I went to personnel I was advised to go elsewhere. Not sacked not redundant, just advised to go elsewhere.
I was on the Blue Flue ships not Elder Dempster. I did not want to go. A great company, great ships I did not want to leave.

Perhaps they stayed to long with the old ways Jimmy , if you remember they built the super P,s when others where starting to build container ships as you say great company i could not fault them myself other than being heavy on deck, having said that what i wouldn,t give to be breaking out the jumbo in Hong Kong now on a job and finish .
