did any one serve with my grandad
Hello sailors!! Castleman has already given me excellent links to the royal archives to find my grandads seamans purse and his medals record. Thank You. I'm just trying to find anyone who can remember him when he was sailing the seven seas before he too 'ran away to land' He captained ships on the bank line and was made a master mariner. The only photos of ships we could find among his possessions were of the garrybank and the fossebank. Would love to hear of anyone then who knew Captain Reginald Nicholas Angle.
Thanks to all
Jo

Hello Jo
I have a feeling that I have looked into this some time past, or it may have disappeared into the ether !!
There are entries on the ancestry web site for Reginald Nicholas Angle
Unfortunatly you will have to pay to view the full detail of the manifests , this will confirm the ships he was on and may throw up others
you could also try veriations of the Christian Names as there are some for just Reginald

If you want to know of anyone who sailed with your grandad you could try looking in the gallery of shipsnostalgia.com website I have posted some crew lists from 1978 to 1983 on there, so have some other people although I don't recocgnise the name you might be lucky.

Hi There, Yes I sailed with your grandad. I was third mate on his last voyage. I joined the Testbank in May 1966 along with Duncan Mackay.
Captain Angle left us at Hamburg. I always remember he went down to his cabin before we completed tying up to get the ship's papers ready for the agent. When we finished securing the ship I went down to tell him thinking he would like to ring "Finished With Engines" himself as that was his final docking. But no he told me to ring off.
I was only with him briefly but he seemed a fine master.
