Re: Israel what is next???
Tower Hamlets is one of the regions that children are taking part in protests about Palestine , I wonder what the truancy rate is on a normal day.
There is nothing new in school children protesting and taking time out of school to do so.
an article from the Observer/Guardian which is 8 months old (No doubt there will be groans not that paper again)
https://www.theguardian.com/educatio...s-social-media
Simple fact, social media,is behind a lot of trouble in the society today.
Israel had better come up with better evidence than they have so far about these tunnels and HAMAS using the likes of hospitals as command centres. They may well have been using hospitals in the past.
Israel are being played now, HAMAS leaders are well gone from Palestine. I suspect they sitting back and watching world opinion turn against Israel, they may lose the battle but they are certainly winning the propaganda war.
Geoff , apathy !!! concerning poltical involvement it is the very reason why the UK will be run by the minority of the population.
I read #211 by Rodney, thankfully here in the UK when you apply to get on the Electoral register/roll you do not declare any political allegiance when you register.
That is between me and my vote at the polling station.
Re: Israel what is next???
There's a thing in todays news, the Express I think, about six or so Arab terrorists that came over by boat, now the cops are looking for them.
I'd like to know how they know about this? Who told the police.
There are already millions of potential Arab terrorists here already, so it's no big deal is it?

It's the same here mate:
Why do we show a preference for a political*party to register*to vote in the USA?
it refers to voting for a choice of a political parties' candidates prior to the election, as if you and I want to be a senator or congressman, let's say we are both Republicans.* We register to be a candidate of the Republican party; we have to have a certain prearranged amount of support to enter a RUNOFF election in a primary vote.* This applies to all candidates in all parties.* Back to us, we register to run as Republicans, we have the correct number of supports from the Republican REGISTERED*voters.*
A third candidate decides to enter Republican primary, Donald Duck.* Mr. Duck cannot gather support from the registered*Republicans*and fails to qualify for the to run.* So it's you and me mate, facing off in the Republican PRIMARY election.* Bugger me, you beat me by five votes.* Because it's within a certain margin I can demand a recount.* If you gave me a walloping I couldn't.
We have a recount and it's confirmed, you are the winner.
Now you start advertising*and contacting the Registered*Republicans and those Registered Independents*to support you with funds for advertising etc.. You don't have to waste your time or money contacting the Democrats who wouldn't vote for you anyway.
Come Election Day, you win.* Now you can be president, senator congressman, mayor, councilor, whatever you won.* The rules apply for all offices.
On election day, I'm registered as a Republican, I go to my polling station. I check in*with the clerk's giving name and preference. She looks in the republican book, ticks me off that I am present to vote and hands me a ballot.
The ballot lists all who are running under BOTH parties, with little boxes to be checked off,*and special amendments*too. Amendment*six is "Dogs must wear two leashes." Yes (box) no (box). I go into the polling booth, pull the curtain for privacy and read the amendments*I tick off no for additional*dog leashes. Do I vote for you, like me a Republican, or vote for a Democrat, Independent candidate, or WRITING anyone I like, I like me, so I write in Rodney Mills.
So though registered*as a Republican I vote for whoever. I want.* I leave the booth fold up my ballot and deposit it in a sealed and box with a slot on top.* So, it's a secret ballot, with a choice. The boxes are collected under security conditions and taken from the polling stations to a central receiving area and the boxes opened and the tabulation watched by security and the press and other witnesses. When the last count is in (if it's close) the winner is announced, if it's a walloping from the get-go, the loser can concede before the final count comes in.
I'm sure this is the same, with minor modifications, as in the UK. A choice of candidates, and political philosophies.

Re: Israel what is next???
On one of my trips to the UK and London about 20 years ago. My late wife and i were invited to stay overnight at my paternal stepbrother and wife's place in London. I had the directions and the tube stop to get off coming from the airport. We left the tube and walked towards...Tower Hamlets.
It was depressing from the outside, even worse on the inside. Graffiti on the hall walls, every other light bulb out or missing. Garbage and cigarette butts on the floor of the rickety elevator. The smell of cabbage cooking and cigarette smoke was overpowering, as was the blend of Pakistani and rock and roll music on a hundred radios or tape decks.
The apartment of my stepbrother was small and cramped, they had given up their bedroom for us and were sleeping on the floor and a small couch. He had didn't work, he had a "bad back" and I don't know what the wife's complaint was, but both were unemployed and smoked like chimneys.
The whole complex of Tower Hamlets was like a penitentiary and equally depressing. There are similar places in the US mainly in New York and Chicago.
I've been in a large block of flats visiting German friends. The grounds were clean, everything inside both clean and in working order, no graffiti or smells, And the flat, though it too was small, was comfortable and habitable.

Re: Israel what is next???
I lived the last 5 or 6 years in a council estate before going to sea Rodney. It was always clean and tidy and one could see the housewife’s out scrubbing their doorsteps on my way to school in the morning. My Brother still lives in the same place , and going to visit him one would think one was in one of the many bazaars in the Middle East. Not for me I am afraid, I don’t think my brother notices it , as to him it is just a place to sleep. I think there are very few of the originals living there now. However being council houses they have no garages but there is a motor car outside every house apart from my brother of course, he couldn’t afford one has a bus pass instead . He also pays full rent as won’t apply for a pensioners rent a few bob less . JS
Re: Israel what is next???
HI Rod.
Interesting reading your post, do the figures suggest to you that Biden is personally in deep dodo at the next election? I haven't seen anything about Trump taking any sides in the Middle East conflict.

Re: Israel what is next???
Any leader in the west who has a bond with Israel would and should put themselves in the same situation themselves as happened to Israel and act accordingly in backing Israel all the way. Trump would also have to do likewise and if he didn’t would soon reap the consequences. I would hope that Australia would do the same as Biden did , declaring himself at the outset ,it doesn’t take any thinking out ,just action , which was one of the many things recently lacking in the Australian Administration at the moment or the presiding government , a very poor show as far as I am concerned and will certainly remember it when choosing our next bunch of misfits. Re: Israel what is next???
HAMAS came into being in 1987.
But take a look at the ordinary person, are they with it all??
In UK there was a census a couple of years ago.
One question, 'do you still associate with the gender you were born with'
Some 250,000 said no, why, because they did not understand the question.
So print what you like, there are plenty who will take it as gospel.
