North atlanic
Hello I would like to here from anyone who served in the royal or merchant navy during w2 who were stationed in Londonderry Lisinhally. Im interrested in anyone who can give me information about a royal navy trawler the hms Andre Monique my father served on when he was a lad of just 15. I would begretful if anyone has photos or can tell me where to obtain them. My dad has told me they used to take torpedos to sub, troops to distroyers and stores and fuel to navy vessels in the atlantic. when they wre not doing this they would sweep for mines along the Northcoast of Northern Ireland. After the war she was retuned to its owner in 1945 If you have any information please contact me,
Thankyou.
J. Doherty.

Thankyou Veron for the information on the ship, I just hope someone can give me alittle more information on her acttivities during her was services. Unfortunitly dad is reluctant to talk about his war time history I worked it out he was only fouteen he admit he lied to joint the ship stating he was sixteen looking at his medal history the AS,FG,and the war medal he seem to have seen some action for one so young.
Yours Faithfully

Hello,
There were two RN trawlers about in WW2 with similar names one was ex Belgian ANDRE MONIQUE the other ex French MONIQUE ANDREE.
You may find which one operated out of Londonderry by consulting the piece's ADM199/2145
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...accessmethod=5
and ADM199/2562
http://www.nationalarchives.gov.uk/c...accessmethod=5
However, before splashing your cash, I would first of all ask the question on the Royal Naval Patrol Service forum.

Also try and get hold of your dad's service records

Regarding medals. Billy McGee, a regular on this board, is the man to tell you. I know he is a bit tied up at the minute but I,m sure if he sees this post he will reply.
