How would I as a 17 year old go about joining the merchant navy?
I am currently in college doing travel and tourism but would like to go to sea training school, how would I go about this and what is the duration of the training?

Much depends upon your ultimate goal, complete and do well at the travel and tourism course,
decide what it is you wish to specialise in. Touch wood a recovery in the offshore industries and
more advise later may put on the right track.

Contact FLEETWOOD NAUTICAL COLLEGE, FLETWOOD, LANCS,
They will give you all the information and get a sponsor from a ship owner.
Excellent College, I have been there a few times for my tuition.

No reply from Poppy, hope the young lady will return if she requires more,
as in #1, hopefully for a 16 year old young lady, pos best to do well in what
she is studying now, the info from Captain Kong may steer her in the / on the
best course in the future.
