Ship Lines Help
I'm finally putting in some order my father's records and still have a few ships on my list with no Ship Line to go with them. Can anyone tell me which Lines these ships belonged to:
Loch Garth - 1952
Woodford - 1952/53
Begonia - 1953
CID - 1953/54
Lapland - 1954
Warkworth - 1957
Sandsend - 1957/58
Crystal Diamond - 1966
I have done a bit on research on the web but it seems that ships often change names, lines, etc. so I'm having trouble pinpointing these ones.
Cheers,
Jacyn

Thanks much, Gulliver. The O.N. for the Begonia looks to be 162690, if I'm reading this correctly. Appreciate the help.

Hi Jacyn
As you say the web sometimes confuses more than helps. It would be useful if you could indicate the dates relevant to the particular ships. Lots of ships have had the same names so to pinpoint the correct one it is necessary to know when your dad was on them or else you may receive false information.
Cheers

Many thanks again, Gulliver. It helps me when I'm looking through the ship lines forum to know which Lines to look at.
And, Tony, good point; didn't think of that until after I posted. I've added the years so I don't know if that will change any of Gulliver's info.
Much appreciated!!

You won't find many of those companies in any of our Company Forums, simply because they no longer exist, and they were almost all very small or smaller companies anyway !
And yes,I'm intelligent enough to work out your Dad's likely years that he sailed on the ships details I've given you-so neither you nor Tony need worry about that...
Kind Regards
Gulliver

whoops
Sorry mate. Wasn't trying to undermine you. For some reason your posts were not showing when I posted mine. That is probably because I already had the page open whilst I was searching elsewhere. The dates issue was merely an observation to avoid any potential confusion! No offense intended

ships - lines
Happens to all of us Tony, we post something and are beaten to it by milliseconds by someone who already has the answer, I'm sure Gulliver was not thinking you were undermining him. The remit on this site is to help all and sometimes lines get crossed.
And lets be fair, you are both top of the league when us mere mortals need information, your knowledge and data bases are a credit to you both and a source of help to all and long may it be so

Ditto, I certainly didn't mean to offend anyone either. My thinking usually leans to, the more information one is given, the easier it is to provide an answer. You are all so knowledgeable and I truly do appreciate all the assistance.
Cheers!
Jacyn
