Over in hoboken in, say, 1959

Our great friend Tony La Forgia created a second diorama, but this one of our beloved hometown of Hoboken. Until 1963, it was the home of the Holland America Line and so we see the likes of the Nieuw Amsterdam, Rotterdam & Ryndam.

Thoughtfully, Tony has also included freighters, tugs & even warehouses ... but can it be Marlon Brando, in miniature too, waving from the dockside set of On the Waterfront?

Docked there on my first trip, Vernon, March 1947. Was enthralled with going under the Hudson River in a bus to Times Square with my shipmates. Nearly got bowled over crossing the road in Times Square and a big buxom woman pulled me back and said,"y'd betta cruss wi me sonny, or y'll getta fanny fulla fender.
