    5 Liners From Southampton

3 Comments by Doc Vernon Published on 12th May 2016 06:19 AM

On Tuesday afternoon, it was almost like the good old days: 5 liners sailed from Southampton within 60 minutes! The Queen Elizabeth, Queen Victoria, Celebrity Eclipse, Aidaprima and the Queen Mary 2. Whistles sounded almost continuously as one ship saluted the other.

I have sailed on the QM2, Magnificent ship,
I also sailed on Queen Elizabeth, to Sydney , she had been flagged out from UK to Hamilton Bermuda Flag, Not too happy on it, they had sacked the Filipino Crew who were very good and employed Eastern European Stewards and waiters. They were awful,. Pig ignorant, unhelpful and unhygienic.
I saw two of them Sneeze all over the food in the Lido Restaurant, no covering the mouth just a load of spray over the food.
In the Restaurant another sneezed directly into four coffee cups and then poured coffee on top for four passengers.
    Not going on there again.
That was my last trip with Cunard. I stay with Holland America now far better.

I was working on the Queen Vic in the Medical Centre. After finishing my work I went up top to look at the view and I spotted a Blue Funnel boat sailing by full up with viewing passengers. I then remembered that exactly 50 years earlier had been the Seamans Strike and the old Queen Elizabeth had been moored at the same berth.
