Thanks Fouro. Going back into the true realms of history one can find many mistakes in actions taken, of nearly every country which had overseas dominions and colonies. They all have one common factor of whatever country it is, they are all made by politicians. Our own Winston Churchill made a disasteruous decision at Gallipoli which Historians do not dwell too long on, but the countless number of lives lost is unforgettable to the average man. Also he was all for class distinction, which a lot of people turn a blind eye to, as his war record made him a hero in certain peoples eyes. When Britain formalized the partition making Pakistan one country with the predominate and alien culture to Indian Hinduism, they probably thought it was the correct thing to do, probably which the leader of ISIS used as an example for his own wanted Sultanate, however he chose the wrong path as the world has moved on. John, if I recall correctly it was only in recent years the Gurkas were recognized for their war efforts.
Politicians use war men and women to their own advantage so very often the real hero's are forgotten.

Not too sure about the Indian Army, but the Ghurkas were part of the British Army. Wheras the Indian Army had their own Generals I think. Also different parts of India came under Portuguese and Spanish settlement and governing and not British in the sense of the word. Would be someone who knew more about Indian history to theorize on the subject than me. Would imagine would have to go back to the roots and probably the East India Company as far as the British interests go. Do know however if it comes down to money they should have had their wack by now. Also believe that the Japanese fought on the side of the allies in World War 1. Anyhow none of this gives me any guilt complex whatsoever we are not responsible for others mistakes if any were made that is. Cheers JWS
