Nick names
I was reading a book called Prisoners of the Japanese this was given to me by a friend of mine it is written by a American a Gavan Daws .It was to me a very interesting book and in one part it says the nick names the POW*S gave to the Japanese and Koreans and it brought back a few memories of the nick names we gave to them .
so i thought i put a few names we had for them .
For a start we never a called them Japs or Koreans we called them Nips (Plus a lot of vulgar words)but here is a few names that i can remember ..

Re: Nick names
Lou, yesterday I saw a promo for a movie, 'Unbroken' true story about an Olympic athlete taken prisoner by the Japs, even allowing for poetic licence it appears to be an horrific story.
Happy daze John in Oz.

I wasn't contradicting you JS, simply saying that is what I knew it to be.
Good to see you back onboard, cheers.

Re: Nick names
Don't know if Dicky Bird was his real name but he was an immigration officer in Auckland who knew every single seaman who jumped there, so much so that one bloke went to Aus a a ring bolt on the Monawai, came back six months later and Dicky bird was waiting for him, said to him, I never forget a face.
