#12..Doc ... a bit of useless info. The word Melita is a significant word believe from an ancient language and is used in unusual circumstances by the ancient knights of Malta. JWS

Vernon lost the post where someone was looking for a John Williams out of Port Line. If she is reading these posts had an email from the wife of an old friend who was also a friend of the John Williams I was aware of. He lived in Tynemouth but died over 5 years ago. He spent most of his life on foreign flag ships on foreign voyages of about 2 year durations. His father was also at sea and he died in Kobe Japan many moons ago. The John Williams who had a chance of being the one you know has a daughter who lives in Albany Western Australia, I wasn't aware of this so have found out something new myself. Hope you have more success elsewhere. Regards JWS.

    Hello again

It has been sugested that I might put my birth mothers name on here as that might get me into her family tree and thus widen the scope. so here goes.

    Her name was

Isabella BRASH . I have to assume she would have been about 20 in 1931 (Young single lady etc) so that mioght give a clue , she was an emplyee at a hairdressers in Crosby (Liverpoo) I don't have an address for her but Crosby could be a starting point. Isabella is not a common name
Aparently I was being looked after initially by a grandmother, Mine I assume as Isabella had to work. But that didn't last long so I was put up for adoption in a 'place' where my step (I hate that word) mother found me. The rest of that is history.

Reading the above posts it seems quite possible that Hobson DID live in Liverpool (perhaps that was how they met) but there was definately a Soton address in the papers so I assumed that was where he hailed from. My S Mum was emphatic about he being a pianist. but as has been stated he might have been a dual player.
So once again, many thanks, and I hope to see some more as I am a total non techie person. At my age we are not supposed to be 'puter literate, but I try.
    cheers
    AH.

This is just too amasing. Why didn't i do this years ago. There is a Google Earth Dalmorton road in New Brighton which is close. So that might be Grandmothers address.
so it also seems that Mum DID go to sea a a hairdresser. WOW !!!! So just maybe that was why I was left in the care of G'mother. So she never married Hobson, seems he had a wife in Soton, but I know he did pay towards my keep.. did ths decent thing and all that ....10 shillings a week in old money 50 p new money Then married Wison in 1944 so ther may be siblings. Heck and other epithets.

    Steel (mother)
    W. Derby

    Births Jun 1917
