#10 If he died in Rosario the ship would be his last abode and Therefore his address. I haven’t been following as said but seems obvious to me. As all paperwork consists of filling in blank spaces and the clerks filling in such more than likely didn’t even speak English they have done a good job. They may have been workers at the British consulate but not necessary British. Myself like others sport a MN lapel badge with veteran of HM armed forces, to the best of my knowledge I never signed up , but the MOD Have other ideas And have on record. My marriage certificate has on it as occupation 2nd. Mate in the Merchant Service. I had a mates cert. at the time so in affect that was wrong. Life is full of little anomalies , which people want to query. In years to come our families of the future may attempt family trees and will run into the same arguments, and go off at tangents . Cheers JWS.

Hi all, my grandfather was born in Newry, Northern Ireland on 24 January 1933. His death is recorded as 24 January 1960. We assumed that at the time he was celebrating his birthday, then fell and drowned. But have since been told he had been missing from 21 - 25 January 1960. He was supposed to be buried in Rosario, Rio de Janeiro, Brazil. He was sailing on MV Huntsmore.

During my time at sea Sarah I have recollections of at least 3 members known to me of drowning whilst in port. One of them a full cousin who was drowned off sheerness coming back to vessel. If he went overside in the plate and was reported missing it could have been a few days before his body was sighted and recovered. The River Plate is a muddy old river. The one time I went swimming there was in a place called Villa Constitution until I saw the snakes swimming past my nose. Never swam there again. Regards JWS
