102, Just an enthusiastic amateur Ewen, glad you liked the photographs, think i saw the documentation re Catherine & four of their children travelling to Australia, will have another look. Regarding poor Hugh i prefer to hear both sides!:) Perhaps you can add the Glasgow names, John Young etc and dates of your family to let us all get started.:)
There is much still to uncover.
Hoping to clarify ASAP.
K.

You seem to be editing faster than Doc.
Guess there was some kind of error ?

William Nixon Third 1866–1866
RIP.
I sent the Young names to your e-mail address, Marian, I can add that info here as well if you want.
Very helpful. Keith. A lot of Williams out there (which is not a particularly Scottish first name). I am not aware of any Canadian links.
Ewen
Thanks, Marian. Re Peter, it seems he was into women in a big way which is confusing for me (us?). It seems he was married to Margret ? (census data only, with children, listed above, presumably she died), then married Ann Brown (one daughter who died), then had William by Mary Cullen (unmarried), then married Anne McGregor (children).
Re Catherine's emigration: She left with her youngest children (the others were presumably old enough to look after themselves or did not want to go) from Mauritius, but why there/. She must have started in the UK sometime earlier. I see that William, her mariner husband, had gone earlier to Victoria and then Sydney, and she must have caught up with them as they both died there. But a big decision for both of them to moved away from their Scottish family permanently.
37, Hi Ewen, Sent you an email. Best to keep the two families separate otherwise it can cause confusion. Vic here for one, is extremely knowledgeable on Scottish Shipping Companies so thinking he might be able to give us a quick start as to the ''Young's'' in your tree [which is fascinating] so have taken the liberty of posting below. Of course it goes without saying anyone can add but please don't repeat what is known already.....
John Young II (1759-95) lived at Campbellfield near Glasgow.
John Young III (1788-1855) of Rowmore died at Blythswood Square, Glasgow.
ohn Young IV (1818-1849) married Johanna Schaer of Hamburg but died without
issue. The last of the direct line of John Youngs.
