History what history?
The overseas correspondent was on local radio today phoning in from London.
The PC lot are at it again.
He listed all the sites where statues, notice plates, names of persons will be removed.
All were involved in the Slave Trade of the 17/1800's and according to the PC lot were criminals.
'If you fail to learn from history you are condemned to repeat the problem.
Here in Oz and maybe the UK history is no longer taught at school so the students have to rely of such others as Wikipedia or Facebook for information.
Neither of which are anywhere near accurate.
You cannot change history by air brushing bits out, what happened is part of who we are today.
What next, Henry 8 because he had two wife's executed, to some that makes him a hero not a villain.
The younger generations will grow up thinking the past was so wonderful and nothing bad ever occurred, obviously they never heard of Cappy and Mary.
Social engineering by these people is part of the problem we have today, but the worst bit is we are now being controlled by the minority.
Bring back Tyburn Tree and fix them all.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: History what history?
Did a bit of human trafficking myself late 50's. Couple of trips with P&O collecting women and children from Italy, Greece and a few more Med ports and 'smuggling' them into Fremantle. The male family adults had been shipped earlier separately. I was brs aboard the Orion and it was a dreadful voyage with screaming kids and mothers begging for extra food and medicines, any bad weather made things worse. Spent Christmas aboard her and on Boxing Day I was arrested by the Master of Arms, marched up to the bridge and accused of being found in the cabin of a female passenger, given her my name and had my wicked way with her. Now I know I'm no Hercule Poirot, but even after stating the obvious- why would I give my own name- I spend my working day amongst women with plenty of opportunities of dalliances. All to no avail. I'd obviously been set up, some randy scally had given my name. I was logged and disrated from brs to utility steward, all overtime stopped and not allowing anywhere near passenger accommodation. Apart from that I had a lovely Christmas.

Re: History what history?
There is a growing call for some form of recognition for Captain Sit Tom Moore who died earlier this week. Tom, who when he was 99 years of age raised £33m for NHS Charities.
A Black Gay Clergyman has called a white nationalist and claims that there should be no form of recognition for him.

Sadly Vic, there will also be a White, Asian , J-w, Anglican, Catholic , Islamist, Hindu, LBGT, will soon be calling the same tune. It is todays sick society. Unfortunately they are allowed to say what they like because we live in a democracy. I know it, you know it, that somewhere at the moment a newspaper editor has instructed some journalist to look into Sir Tom's families background to see if there is the slightest bit of scandal , be it Sir Tom's previous business dealings, how he lived his life , have his children or grand children any skeletons in the cupboard. It is what the British media do best. Build them up so they can cut them down and place the family in disgrace. If I was Sir Tom's family I would thank the British public for their support at this sad time, and then quietly get on with their lives. Concerning a statue for Sir Tom. It would be wonderful and he certainly deserves a memorial of some description. He came across as a wonderful human being and as he said , "tomorrow will be a good day" Put a statue up and at sometime some Go-shi-te will deface it. There are a lot of sick people out there.

Re: History what history?
Alas a statue would be defaced by some ignoramus (usually well educated) who would find some underlying reason known only to him and his drug addled buddies to carry out defamation. As you say Lewis, some editor somewhere will have the JCB out again for some reason mainly to increase sales, but that could backfire quite easily. I doubt Sir Tom, would want a statue, he didn't seem that kind of man.
Far better to issue a series of stamps and for every stamp sold one pence should be donated to the NHS charity in Sir Tom's name, a vast amount would raised I feel sure, and they would be collectors items also

Re: History what history?
Excellent idea Ivan one of which I am sure Sir Tom and the family would get behind. Also it would save hundreds of thousands of pounds which some designer would charge in fees to design a statue of Sir Tom. Perhaps in a year or 2 when the dust has settled a Blue Plaque could be erected in the home he lived in.

hi cappy
#4 these so called men of cloth are becoming politicised and backing and using the extreme wierdos whom are out to destroy our culture and our history, they start with innocent words but they will grow in stature if allowed any room they must be confronted by the majority at all times.

Re: History what history?
hi ivan cloherty
#7 there is a law going through parliament now setting out the rights in law of public statues, thus taking the responsibilities away from these left wing councils whom publicly display their human rights, blm and transhipaphobia rights programs, thus protecting these publicly owned and beautiful works of art,
