Re # 9.
I am sure 'she' would have been a more appropriate word rather than 'that woman' when you referred to your mother in your post.

Re: Sexuality
Victoria, i have every sympathy with you on this, i had a very similar experience, my mother was a spiteful women, who fell out with just about everyone, using nasty malicious gossip. `The final straw for me was when she started telling lies about my wife, who had helped her in many ways, despite her nature. that was me finished with her, kt

Re: Sexuality
There are some good and some otherwise.
I was lucky with my mother, though she was not so.
My father left her for a Matron, in Gibraltar during the war, she remarried my dad. Any man can be a father but it takes a special kind to be a dad.
My wife was very lucky, she met me 53 years ago and has been married for 52.
Her mother, the perfect mother in law, never said a word about the choice of any of her 9 kids.
But how you care for them is the secret to a long and happy marriage, not something all can do.
Like my brother and two sisters, wrong choice on not one but two occasions, slow learners in the family.
I treat my wife with loving care, I do the loving and she does the care!!
Life is a journey and who you take the journey with will determine if it is a good one or not.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Victoria #13 Keith #14. Re. Mother.
Me too. As I mentioned. My sister and I were evacuated in late 1943 from London to Yorkshire, the Blitz was mainly over until the "doodle-bugs." The reason, she was a "clippie" on a bus and dumped us and my father who was in the army and over seas, for the bus driver.
When we returned from Yorkshire to my gran and grandad's house, I never saw her for years. I was told she lived to far away...She lived in Leigh-on-Sea, Essex, we lived in Chingford Hatch, Essex. Thirty-two miles away, just over an hour by bus. Not just for that, for multiple reasons she was a truly an evil woman.
Gran and grandad's was not a barrel of laughs either.
It wasn't so hard being a parent, all I had to do was be the opposite of those who raised me. Though I worked long hours, the hours I spent with them I made them quality time.
Cheers, Rodney
