Re: Concorde
#19... never heard of that place Tony. But there again only knew Leith and Rosyth the naval base. Just at the mouth of Forth used to be an anchorage where a lot of rigs that were off hire used to lay up. Going into Rosyth once got a call from one of them to say he had a suspected mine clanking around one of his legs. Called the Diving Officer and the old man and went close in to have a look.sure looked like a mine and the diving officer confirmed but said it was ok was only a practice one. Went alongside and I went down to the deck to pull on board. With a schatt davit. The Naval lieutenant stood on the focsle head as far away from midships as he could get, shouting encouragement it’s ok it’s only a practice one. Went alongide in Rosyth with the mine lying on deck. The next morning it. Wasn’t there and was never mentioned again. Was it a dud? Who knows. JS
Know it’s a bit off the subject but the Firth of Forth stirred memories. JS.
