Knights Templars

My post regarding the chf/con and the bookie was in no way being disrespectful towards or knocking masonry I just thought that it was a point of interest as to what did go on in the past.I used to go to the bookies H.O. to pick up the winnings with the runners son so maybe I heard a bit more about it through that.
By the way John WS Ive seen this twice now on TV (maybe it was a repeat) on an antique show.It is a carpet about 8ftX4ft the pattern being a white full size coffin with a blue border.It was said that it was used in Freemason Ceremonies.

In Scotland the Order of the Temple was never technically dissolved. Many English and French Templars found a Scottish refuge and a sizeable contingent is said to have fought on the side of Robert the Bruce at the Battle of Bannockburn in 1314.
According to legend and there is evidence to support it, the Order maintained itself as a coherent body in Scotland for another four centuries.
During the fighting of 1688-91 King James II of England was deposed by William of Orange. In Scotland supporters of the Stuart monarch rose in revolt and at the Battle of Killiecrankie in 1689 John Claverhouse, Viscount of Dundee, was killed on the battlefield.
When his body was recovered, he was found to be wearing the Grand Cross of the Order of the Temple. This was not a recent device, but was one dating from before 1307.

Today Fouro as have said previous the order that you are referring to is Preceptory. This consists of 2 degrees ..The Order of the Temple, and the Order of Malta,Rhodes and Cyprus. Both these jewels as they are called in masonry are neck decorations. As a preceptor of the order you also get the title of preceptor and prior. Freemasonry in Scotland is slightly older than in England. Apart from Richard and Hollywood I cant remember any well. Known English or Scottish Templars, they were nearly all continentals. blood Thirsty lot as someone said previously. The neck decorations are for those in the chair, the other knights wear breast jewels a total of Three. I am going to my preceptors BBQ at the end of the month so hope they have chopped a few heads off by then , not too particular on nationality , it all goes down the same way. Cheers JS.

History is some record of events at times written well after, but the events portrayed are only the version of the person recording what they think they saw or what happened.
Get two people to tell the story and get two differing versions.

Yes John I agree. In ancient times we only have the writings of the scribes to record the tales of primitive people but we cannot accept this as fact . Here we head into dangerous territory as millions of people around the world believe in every word of their books and wars are still fought over them.

One of the problems I see Louis is that history is always written by the Victor Never by the vanquished

Also by the same side Rob. An account of the same battle written by a private and one written by a general would be entirely different. But it is the generals who write the history books.

The general of course writes the Action as he planned it.
The private soldier how it really turned out.
