Glastonbury

My godson joined the Army at 15 ,a school boy and went to the Army school and so on, he did five tours of Iraq and Afghanistan, smart lad. and stayed, when he reached the age of 50 he retired from the Army and got himself a `good` shore job, But he was unhappy,
He missed the camarady of his mates, shore people were not the same, different humour, different language, could not really converse with them , he was unhappy, I guess like a fish out of water, a lot of seafarers find that, so last year he Re Joined the Army in a sort of semi civilian capacity, Not sure what it is , but now he is happy again. With people he can identify with.
That is the problem with a Service or Seafaring life, the change over can be traumatic. you feel totally lost.
I didn't like it when I came ashore and shore people are still not my good friends the same as Seafaring men are.
So I guess the loneliness sets in and some fall by the wayside and take to booze or even drugs for comfort.

jim dont come onto me with a holier than thou atttitude ........there is help for these people .....if you are so concerned go out tonite and try to see how many are actual ex forces and if you are so concerned tell them were to get help instead of whinging about it .....dont blame me for the bums and junkies ....many who live in the cradle to grave society......dont deserve a helping hand they wont help themselves ......i look forward to your on the spot report tommorow morning jim .....not a report from the charlaton brigade....ps i would suggest you dont take food ..a bottle might get more attention .......cappy no sympathy for the bums ..been there ...

Jim,I agree with you, if it is metal health problem treat it. To me it seems the authorities take the easy way out. In Scotland they dole out menthadine to the druggies, in a supposed programme of weaning them off it. As far as I can ascertain there seems to be no follow up , just dish out the drugs.
Last year BBC E. News did a prog on methadine in our area, nearly £40m was spent on giving this drug to ex druggies.
As in Scotland it was easier to dish out the drug than treat the ailment.
Replicate those cost over the various health authorities in the UK and you are talking serious money.

Ah!!!! the old magic money tree, Theresa May must have popped down to the local garden centre and bought some of that Mirical Grow fertiliser.

I am from N Ireland and I am bloody disgusted , not with the DUP( a party I dispise) but the lack of backbone by the Government. The DUP spotted an oportunity for to garner more funding for N Ireland and seized it with both hands. One can only hope the funds will be used to benefit all in the N Ireland community.

If someone posted a thread on here about cornflakes it would only be a few moments before it was turned into the same old rant of Jeremy Corbyn , bums , stiffs and scroungers.

Maybe T.M nicked the money tree of J.C. when he was swaggering about Glastonbury.
