Re: Cayzers third sailing ship(not solved answer given by Poster)
Chris, the notice of intention is purely to change the ships name. The notice clearly states that it is our ship (Cayzer).
Mirimar is not infallible, I have found many errors and omissions on that site.
AYOS ANDREAS (1879-1881)
Wood Brig
O.N. 72501
1878: Appears in the Lloyds registers for the first time, builder unknown. Owned by Ludwig, Sierra Leone, Freetown.
1880: Registered owner Charles W. Cayzer, 3, Old Church Yard, Chapel Street, Liverpool (source Clip crew list registers). Name at Registration AYOS ANDREAS.
1880: Registered at Lloyds as the AMY.
1881: Disappears from L.R.
I believe that that is sufficient corroboration.
Regards
Vic
I agree with you Chris there is no mention of this ship in any other Cayzer documentation. It maybe that it was owned for one voyage before disposal. At that time Cayzer was under tremendous financial pressure to come with the cash for the ships being built at Stephens.
