If we had known that john, could have shipped some over for you and the little goblins. Funny you should have a shortage, at the weekend I was up to see my friends at the hunt camp, on the way in on a bush road, came upon an entrance to some ones property saw two big orange carved pumpkins hanging from a tree,in the middle of nowhere. good food for the moose and deer. During my working days, spent many Halloween working the night shift, trying to keep the idiots from wrecking the town. Now I park the vehicle behind the house, shut the lights off and head for the basement rec room. Have no time for it.

Went in our local Tesco today John and they had three huge great crates, roughly 8' by 8' full to brim, must have held 50+ pumpkins each and further down the store they had about half a dozen 6' tall cages on wheels full of them too. So no shortage here.

The last couple of years no kids have turned up I think they must've gone to visit relatives consequently we have been left with loads of sweets, the problem is if you don't get the goodies in you would feel a right meanie if the kids knock and you have nothing for them.My wife loves the kids knocking Halloween has always been a big thing here with our kids and all the kids from the avenue and beyond having a party at our place. Before the Barbie I would light a fire with wood the kids would put spuds and chestnuts on,happy days.

My memory Jim is that spuds and chestnuts went on the fire embers on 'Bonfire Night' a British rather than American occasion

Hi Cappy, Know what you mean.
I am lucky. Live in the country with a long dark driveway.
Scary old bugger lives in the old farm house.
Buy a few candies, the kind I like, on the pretense that some kid may show up. Hasn't happened yet thank goodness!!
Bit early for it, but Humbug. As it suits the occasion!
