Re: Just Awful
The generous Aussie govt just gave us oldies just upped our pension by $9 a fortnight. My $4.50 will buy me 2 loaves,4.5 postage stamps, the Sunday paper and a pint a milk or I'll go mad and buy a pot of beer at the club. Joy's keeping hers for that rainy day.

Re: Just Awful
Well Neil if she is waiting for a rainy day it may be a long wait the way things are with the weather just now. Sunbury is like the Simpson desert just now, will not know until next pension day what we got. Super and part UK pension effect how much we get.

Happy daze John in Oz.

Re: Just Awful
Dont know what the full aussie pension is now, but believe it is about 1100 dollars a fortnight for a couple, about 550 a week, translated at 2 to the pound is 275 pounds a week. Should imagine is well above the English pension, I the same as everyone do not receive the proper UK one so don't know what it is. However whatever the English one is thought when I was last there would hate to have it as the only means of income. JS

Re: Just Awful
That surprises me Jim, just shows how much I have been short changed with no means of complaint apart from joining the thousands claiming the same living in Aus NZ S.A, mine from UK is 75 pounds a week circa 2002. Was under the impression was now about 110 pounds a week. Will have to re-emigrate back to UK and get my claim in. I thought those poor pensioners living in the UK couldn't afford Jam on their Bread. I was supposed to have all the extra bits on as well with the extras paid over the years. Cheers John S

Re: Just Awful
John I don't suppose there is anything private or confidential about the OAP so here are my figures for the coming year.
Basic State Pension. £115.95.
Pre 97 additional State Pension. 63.53.
Post 97 additional State Pension. 9.38.
Graduated Retirement Benefit. 6.38.
The amount each week is £195.24.
This is my weekly pension my wife claims in her own right.
Regards.

Re: Just Awful
Jim I will never again call the UK government stingy. In fact seriously thinking of sending my apologies to 10 or is it 12 Downing Street. See now how Brian can go flaunting around the South Pacific, he"s probably already started saving for the next one in a couple of months time. Wouldn't be surprised if he goes 1st. Class. Theres poor old Cappy goes by ex British rail on a platform ticket, if they still have them, he must hide all his wealth under the bed.. Cheers all the best Summers on its way. John S

Re: Just Awful
Was going to send you a 10 bob postal order Cappy, but see you don't need it. I always said I should have married a woman with money, Gwens pension from the UK is 39 pounds 75 p, told her I was not a sugar daddy and she should of carried on working. I bet Marian is a kept woman as well. Although she probably fiddles the housekeeping as has the makings of a good chief steward. Now I know why I am a poor pensioner. When I think of all the fiddles I turned down, wish could have another go. I got the impression from my brother who is 63 that he would get nowt, and what he earns now is next to nowt as is a security guard. Will have to send the 10 bob P.O. to him maybe wait until Xmas though and will do for that as well. Cheers Regards to Pat your rich missus, does she take yours off you and give you pocket money.
