UK General Election 2015.
As the Election looms, Labour face being wiped out in Scotland as a new poll continues to give the SNP a significant lead. The poll projects Labour would lose 36 out of 40 seats in Scotland, the Lib Dems would be wiped out and the Tories would lose their one remaining seat, while the SNP would gain a massive majority.
Although they lost the Referundom last year, it looks like the SNP will be far better off remaining as a member of the Union, boosting up Scotland at the expense of the rest of the UK.
Vote for Red ED and the Union could become dead. YOU HAVE BEEN WARNED.

Re: UK General Election 2015.
In view of the fact that there is an election due do we need another thread like the one we have just had about the miners. Both sides have their views so why try and impose them on each other it will just become another slanging match with no winners.!!!!No matter how much the argument you will never win over someone from one side to the other so the whole exercise is pointless, just point scoring.

Re: UK General Election 2015.
I think this is a suitable time to enter this poem.
I'm glad I have the right to vote,
And that my wife does too,
And all our friends and family,
And that's includiong YOU,
It didn't used to be that way,
But now it is you see,
As a British citizen,
They gave that right to me,
Though I'm just one person,
One citizen in the crowd,
I need to exercise my right,
And makle my country proud,
If I should "Fail" to cast my vote,
Then I can't complain,
About the choices others made,
Alas, I must refrain,
I'm glad we have elections,
And have the right to choose,
The ones we think will do the best,
And though we win or lose,
We've done the best that we can do,
And voted faithfully,
Just as millions did before us,
To keep this nation free,
God bless this great land of ours,
And bless our leaders too,
To help us safeguard freedom,
And our flag of Red White and Blue.
FOURO.

Re: UK General Election 2015.
I can see the point of both sides, Cappy with his free speech, Jim with his opinion. But the fact is in the mess rooms we talked of all manner of things, I see nothing different here.
In Oz voting is compulsory and if you d not you get a fine of $7. I have always vote but not at the last erection in November. Like man I think compulsory voting goes against the concept of democracy.
Got a letter, why did I no vote?
Wrote back and told tem that under the corner stone o four democracy freedom of speech and action as ours to use as w should. I enclosed a copy from the newspaper which said, voting is compulsory.
They replied that as attendance at a polling station was compulsory I was assumed that voting was also compulsory.
I replied that I assumed they were wrong and I would not pay any fine. Not heard anything since.

Happy daze John in Oz.
Life is too short to blend in.

Re: UK General Election 2015.
you have just offered your view on the election after making quite a statement on how you wished to hear no more about it yesterday ....i also wish to hear no more about it but sadly that appears to be not the case ..........i have had no one ....at my door .....no vans blasting out rhetoric round my street......and as for the tele nothing i cant turn off if i dont like......your statement about a seafaring community is true on the site but how many folk talk on average about that....the site is a outlet for any to say his piece from galley boy to master ......the main point is each can make himself heard......that is the anchor of democracy ......in simple terms free speech ........but fact not dogma ..........fouro myself you or any other cannot be denied there say because someone else doesnt like it .......that to me is bully boy tactics ......i have no argument against your right to say what you like ...but idemand the same right from you regards cappy
