Ron believe me when i tell you it is a load of crap. You have to vote for all manner of idiots as we do not have first past the post, we have referential voting. You are given a piece of paper by the side you want to win and on it will be instructions as to the order you must number the candidates. The lower hosue is bad, but the upper house! There were so mnay candidates that the ballot paper was almost two fot long, so many namse they provided magnifying glasses so we could read them all. As a result we now have a party of the Fishermen and Shooters party who got in with a primary vote of 0.2% of the vote, 3 members and 2 members of the Sex party who got in with a primary vote of 0.18% of the vote.
This lot will now hold the balance of power in the upper house and the gov will have to negotiate with them to get any bills through.
