re: Mersey Memories
Painful Terry !! , I got hit by a car many years ago , I was parked and was rammed by a lady driving her first automatic on her first day with it . It seemed OK , my car was badly damaged but repairable , years later when discussing knee pain with a very good knee surgeon in Portsmouth called Mr McLaren , he told me that the pain was not my knee but my spine , He spotted a condition that would have confined me to a wheelchair as it progressed .A eight hour operation and a lot of Meccano and bolts to hold my head on , I still walk , but at times it is painful . I developed two things , a limp and a mistrust of hospital , there are too many mediocre treatment centres and professionals out there . I had gone to my GP , and explained what was in his mind three unrelated symptoms , he told me he could not deal with iy=t and to go away and make three appointmentsa , one for each complaint , luckily , I had private medicine , and Mr McLaren sorted it , referring me to a Neurosurgeon . Left me not trusting the GP any longer

re: Mersey Memories
Hi Rob,
GPs are just that, General Practitioners. not specialists in any field, I have the same problem with my GPs.
Alway demand to see the Consultant in that particuilar field.
Unfortunately the cost of a Consultant is paid for by the GPs Budget. and so they are reluctant to send you to one.
It is your right to demand one and at the hospital of your choice..
Cheers
Brian.

re: Mersey Memories
Here it costs £90 to see the consultants privately , then you speed through their NHS lists because they , not their apprentices have seen you , money well spent . £90 and you save months of anguish

re: Mersey Memories
That is the best way to do it Rob. you get on his waiting list and not the hospitals so you get treated sooner.
I have done that before.
Cheers
Brian.
