I did a trip on the Aussie Bounty and the James Craig albiet only down Sydney Harbour, I was allowed to steer but not go aloft insurance purposes, all the crew used safety life lines while aloft, really thought it would be a hindrance, OHS I suppose.

Just a question, can anyone tell me how a US ship can be prefixed HMS? I heard that in one of the reports on Monday.
In a web article this morning it says the ship was the one from Marlin Brando version of the film, also in Pirates of the Caribbean. Which is it I wonder?
It is bemusing that she, the US Bounty if it was her, would be out in such weather after all the warnings over at least a week apprently she was headed for Florida & had set sail a week ago? I wonder if someone will be blamed for it?
Still as always sad to hear of a ship, especially a tall ship going down & death being involved. Two they said in the report I read.
Capt. Kong would the Bounty you went on be the one from the Mell Gibson version of 'Mutiny On The Bounty' a true shocker of a version? That vessel which was built for that film sails the Sydney harbour, or used to? Richard

I have been on both Bounty`s, The one in Sydney built for the Mel Gibson movie, and also I went on the American Bounty, built for the Marlon Brando movie when she was in SEATTLE.
It was the American one that sank, It is or was larger than the Sydney Bounty,
Both very interesting vessels.
I still cannot understand why she sailed with such a bad weather forecast, Also Cape Hatteras has always had a bad reputation for ship wrecks.

many years ago there used to be a sailing ship called the Bounty tied to the wharf in Ramsgate, Kent UK. it was there for a number of years back in the 50/60`s does anyone know what happened to this one? I beleive she was built for a movie but no idea which one. it could have been for the original movie of the Bounty back in the 1930`s.
I did 2 trips on the Ruahine and laid off Pitcairn 4 times, like everyone else i bought a wooden carved bird, a carved wooden flying fish and a model of the Bounty with the sails all carved from wood, these were for my mother but when she passed on they were sold off with her other things, all i have from there left, is the stamped envelope i sent home.

This is the real `HMS BOUNTY, MEMORIAL Rock` in Matavai Bay on Tahiti, where the HMS BOUNTY was anchored for six months waiting for the Bread Fruit season.
It has the name `BOUNTY` and a list of all the crew. from Captain Bligh down, including Fletcher Christian and Mr Edward Young, Midshipman
My old friend who is stood next to the Rock is Manuraii Young, a decendent of Edward Young. Hope to see them again in February.
For those that just dont believe in the Weather changes Climate changes or what ever you may want to call them, this storm that hit New York and many other towns should serve as a reminder that Nature does not tell Lie,s.
The American authorities did it right and tried to warn millions of people that this was going to happen. Yet Millions of People chose not to believe in the weather forecasts and govt warnings.
Right now we have people mocking all and everything about Climate change.
this was the worst storm in (The History of the United States) i would certainly be having a long hard think in all parts of the World about all the changes in Cyclonic weather storms and if all of these are connected to Climate changes.
On the face of it one should be more careful about mocking Govts that are trying to make life more endureable with these changes.
Even the Australian farmers federation have admitted that we must brace ourselves for more severe changes such as Drought and very high Dangerous Winds that can blow whole farms of Topsoil etc.
It is time for the Human Race to take a rain check on how they treat information that is there for their Benefit.
This latest storm should put people firmly on notice that the World is changing faster than was anticipated .
I am certainly not a panic merchant but its all there on the table to prove.
As i said you can call it what ever you want but one thing is for certain Life is valuable and people ought to start listening in.
