Hi Glen. I understand your sentiments but you can't really argue against facts. From what we are led to believe the world has always suffered from earthquakes, volcanoes, freak storms, tidal waves, ice ages and big thaws. Chemicals, petrol fumes, cfcs, etc etc DID not cause any one of those. Man wasn't even thought of at the beginning or end of the last ice age and yet it still happened. Fact is nature goes in phases. Why? I have no idea but the program that Ivan described seems to explain the cause in as good a way as any. Being an atheist myself I am not even going to get into that discussion as it simply doesn't make any sense to me {but the again I could be proved wrong one day:confused:} As I see it the only thing that is man made that could eventually cause some major catastrophe is nuclear power. However whatever the cause I am absolutely certain that none of us or our children or even their children will still be around if nature does eventually come full circle with another ice age. Si if the experts are to be believed, in the mean time here in the UK we are going to get colder winters and hotter summers. I am happy with that as long as we do get the sunshine for at least a few months a year. Like you Glen, I am just explaining my thoughts on the situation and like many others I wonder when governments will eventually be forced into a position where they have to declare that they are defrauding their countries with hoax taxes.

Well I dont comment on peoples beliefs, we never talked about religion in the mess room, each to his own , but religion or superstitions had nothing to do with the climate.

I have seen some footage of Brazil where they are doing a great job of replanting nuch of the forest land that was clear felled.
But the best one was today. Here in Oz one of our senior gov climate change advisors said 'Sandy' was the result of man made global warming.
A few hours later he was made to retarct that statement when US scientists went on to explain how super storm 'Sandy' had come about. Had the Us not issued the statement no doubt millions would have believed this guy. There in lies the problem, we are fed only what the gov geeks want us to hear.

People arriving in New York for the Marathon which has been cancelled are complaining saying that they have been training for months, regretfully some of these complainers were British. As one New Yorker said "Where are their priorities, they want to run round New York whilst we are still pulling bodies out of the water" felt ashamed of being British at that moment. Faith was restored when another group of British said "Sensible decision lets see if we can volunteer for the clean up whilst we are here"

People who complained will look back on that interview I hope will say "Why in Gods name did I say that" and feel ashamed. I know that many were running for charities but the charities, if they are charitable, will accept the loss of funds they may have received due to these circumstances. I know many will have spent a lot of their own money getting to New York and may feel peeved at the cancellation, but they should count their blessings that they are not among those directly or indirectly affected with the loss of lives and homes, which at the moment stands at around 8 million in New York State alone, my sympathy lies with those.

There are 47,000 runners there for the Marathon, all fit and healthy, what a great help to the New Yorkers if these super fit heros helped to do the clean up. 47000 Pairs of hands would make a hell of a difference there.

BBC4 tonight at 2000 hours Horizon THE CORE, well worth watching and explains a lot about our weather patterns and underlying causes. Looks a bit heavy at first but well worth perservering and fresh food for thought.

ivan i watched it the other night the magnetic field is shifting{what ever that means} but once you understand that very interesting you never know a few years we will be fighting the germans for deckchairs in the artic circle:p
