The only benefit will be to the retailer and the shops that sell them at exhorbitant prices, no manufacturing or materials profits, am sure the UK has adequate facilities to make every souvenier sold,at least they would be made in GB. And maybe could have made a few jobs here. personallyi think the Goverment should have stipulated all souveniers should be made in the UK. i dont see how it can be classed as souvenier of GB if not made here. ?
You never know the Chinese govt might start up some Laundry Dry cleaning shops around london , they won a lot of Gold Medals at the Games, To be honest I find it amazing that they havent enlarged the locks and made it possible for cruise liners to enter London docks.There would be a huge attraction for Tourists to sail right into London.
Im surprise that major emergency concepts such as Hostilities or any other major Emergancie hasnt made it possible for major Military shipping and Cruise Liners to get all the way up to Royal Albert. all the best Glenn
Is'nt London City Airport situated in the Royal Docks?
If it is could be a boon to the cruise industry but then again large cruise ships docked there could present a hazard to planes landing and taking off.
Just a thought.

Check out KGV (AIS) Fred's BRAEMAR in for the olympics.Who said it could not be used as a cruise ship terminal/Destination.
i think cruise ships to the old london docks is an excellent idea. you would have room for at least four each side of the airport and it could also be made a terminal stop like Miami.
you couldn't get a better setup.off the plane and onto your cruise liner.
i have suggested something like this for plymouth. the dockyard is just a large empty space with lots of room for ships. at present the cruise liners would have to anchor out and ferry the passengers in by tender, so the result is no liners. they go to Falmouth instead and one even went to Dartmouth. i think the ferry berth in Plymouth might be big enough but the council musn't upset the french ferry. we of course do not have a ferry.
